Health Score

Your Health.
Scored.

A 0-100 composite health metric drawn from six dimensions - training consistency, cardio performance, hydration, body composition, recovery activity, and steps. Updated after every session. Full breakdown included. The most comprehensive health score in any fitness app.

0-100 -
One Number, Six Dimensions.

Most health scores in fitness apps are cosmetic. They take one or two inputs - typically steps and heart rate - apply a formula, and produce a number that looks scientific without being particularly meaningful. Ritual's Health Score is built on six distinct data dimensions drawn from every area of activity tracked in the app: training consistency, cardio performance, hydration relative to target, body composition, recovery activity frequency, and daily step count.

The six-dimension approach means the score reflects the full complexity of health behaviour, not a single proxy metric. An athlete who trains hard but sleeps poorly, skips recovery, and stays dehydrated will score lower than one who trains moderately with excellent recovery and hydration practices. The score correctly prioritises the full behavioural picture over a single impressive metric.

A health score that only measures one thing tells you one thing. Ritual's Health Score tells you the composite story of every health behaviour you track.

The score updates after every interaction: after a logged workout set, after a hydration entry, after a recovery session, after a calculator result is saved to the Labs profile. This near-real-time updating means the score reflects your current state, not last week's behaviour.

Ritual Context

Ritual's Health Score pulls from training, cardio, hydration, body composition, recovery sessions, and steps. All six dimensions contribute to the 0-100 composite. The score updates after every logged activity.

Recovery Input -
Rest Is Measured.

Most health scoring systems ignore recovery as a measurable input. They track what you do (training, steps) but not what you do to restore the capacity to do it (sleep, breathwork, foam rolling, stretching). This produces a scoring model that rewards effort without rewarding the wisdom of knowing when and how to recover from it.

Ritual's Health Score incorporates recovery activity as a scored dimension. Breathwork sessions, foam rolling sessions, and stretching sessions completed in the Ritual recovery system are counted and weighted in the score. Athletes who consistently include recovery work score higher than those who train at identical volume without recovery practice.

A health model that ignores recovery does not model health. It models effort. Effort and health are related but not identical.

Sleep data, when available through Apple Health integration, contributes additional context to the recovery dimension. Sleep duration and consistency are among the most significant determinants of adaptation quality. Their inclusion in the composite score reflects their actual importance in the physiological picture.

Recovery activity (breathwork, foam rolling, stretching) contributes directly to the Ritual Health Score. Athletes who complete regular recovery sessions score higher than those who train at identical volume without recovery practice.

Full Breakdown -
Not Just a Number.

A composite score without explanation is a black box. A 67 out of 100 is only useful if you know which dimensions are strong and which are dragging the overall number down. Ritual's Health Score display provides a full breakdown of each contributing dimension alongside the composite - not just the headline number.

This breakdown is the actionable part. An athlete who sees that training consistency is strong but hydration is underperforming has a clear intervention: drink more. An athlete who sees cardio performance declining while strength metrics are strong may be overloaded in one direction. The breakdown converts the score from a vanity metric into a diagnostic tool.

The score is the summary. The breakdown is the information. Athletes who act on health improvements act on the breakdown, not the number.

Health Score share cards present the composite and breakdown in a visually refined format suitable for sharing on social media, sending to a coach, or simply reviewing as a record of current health status. Share cards match the app theme and are available in the same styles as workout and cardio cards.

Ritual Context

Ritual's Health Score display shows both the composite 0-100 score and a full breakdown of each contributing dimension. Health Score share cards are available in all 15 themes and can be shared publicly or sent directly.

Labs Integration -
Calculated from Science.

Ritual Labs provides 15 calculators that generate objective performance benchmarks from the athlete's data: VO2 Max estimation, body fat percentage, lean body mass, biological age estimate, and more. When an athlete saves results to their Labs profile, these values contribute to the Health Score calculation - specifically to the body composition and aerobic fitness dimensions.

This integration means that investing time in the calculator suite produces a more accurate Health Score. An athlete who has logged their body composition data, completed a VO2 Max estimate, and tracked their strength standards has provided the system with the data it needs to score body composition and aerobic fitness accurately. An athlete who has not logged this data gets a partial score in those dimensions.

The Health Score is only as accurate as the data it has to work with. Athletes who invest in tracking get a score that accurately reflects their actual health status.

The Labs Profiles page tracks all calculator results over time, providing a longitudinal view of how body composition, aerobic capacity, and strength are developing alongside the composite Health Score. Trends in individual dimensions can be compared to trends in the overall score to understand which inputs are driving composite health improvement.

Ritual Context

Ritual Labs calculator results saved to the Labs Profiles page contribute to the Health Score. VO2 Max estimation, body composition data, and strength benchmarks improve the accuracy of the aerobic fitness and body composition score dimensions.
