One Number, Six Dimensions.
Most health scores in fitness apps are cosmetic. They take one or two inputs - typically steps and heart rate - apply a formula, and produce a number that looks scientific without being particularly meaningful. Ritual's Health Score is built on six distinct data dimensions drawn from every area of activity tracked in the app: training consistency, cardio performance, hydration relative to target, body composition, recovery activity frequency, and daily step count.
The six-dimension approach means the score reflects the full complexity of health behaviour, not a single proxy metric. An athlete who trains hard but sleeps poorly, skips recovery, and stays dehydrated will score lower than one who trains moderately with excellent recovery and hydration practices. The score correctly prioritises the full behavioural picture over a single impressive metric.
A health score that only measures one thing tells you one thing. Ritual's Health Score tells you the composite story of every health behaviour you track.
The score updates after every interaction: after a logged workout set, after a hydration entry, after a recovery session, after a calculator result is saved to the Labs profile. This near-real-time updating means the score reflects your current state, not last week's behaviour.
Ritual's Health Score pulls from training, cardio, hydration, body composition, recovery sessions, and steps. All six dimensions contribute to the 0-100 composite. The score updates after every logged activity.
