Per-Set Comparison -
Beat Yesterday.

The single most useful piece of information available to an athlete during a working set is not a timer or a playlist - it is the number they need to beat. How many reps did they manage at this weight last session? How does this set compare to their best? Most apps answer this question with a post-session summary or a history tab that requires navigating away from the active session. Ritual answers it with a live indicator on every working set.

Per-set comparison arrows appear inline for every exercise in every active session, showing in real time whether the current set is above, equal to, or below the same set from the previous session. Green arrow up: improvement. Dash: matched. Red arrow down: below. No navigation required. No mental arithmetic. The feedback is immediate and unambiguous.

The comparison arrow is not a feature. It is the entire point of a logbook made visible in real time. Every set becomes a direct competition with the athlete you were last session.

This real-time feedback changes the training stimulus in a way that session-summary analytics cannot. An athlete who sees a comparison arrow in the moment of the set experiences the feedback at exactly the time it can influence performance. Post-session data influences the next session. Real-time data influences this one.

Ritual Context

Ritual's per-set comparison arrows appear live for every working set, showing performance relative to the previous session at the exact moment it matters. Previous session data is preloaded automatically - no setup required.

Custom Workouts -
Built Your Way.

Ritual's workout system is built around the assumption that the athlete knows their training better than any pre-built programme library does. There are no required templates, no mandatory exercise databases to navigate before logging a set, no system that forces a prescribed structure onto an athlete who has their own proven method.

Custom workouts are created from scratch with any exercises the athlete chooses - from Ritual's exercise library or from custom exercises created by the athlete. Custom exercises support any movement name, any equipment type, and any metric configuration (weight + reps, reps only, time, or distance). Workouts are organised in custom folders for session-type categorisation.

The best workout tracker is the one that tracks your workout. Not a template workout. Not a recommended workout. Your actual training, exactly as you do it.

Previous session data is preloaded automatically at session start. The athlete opens their workout and immediately sees what they lifted last time for every exercise, in sequence. The only required action is logging what happened today. The system handles everything else.

Ritual Context

Ritual supports fully custom workouts with custom exercises, custom folders, and automatic preloading of previous session data. Free tier: 5 workouts, 12 exercises, 2 folders. Pro: unlimited.

Automatic PRs -
Every Record Flagged.

Personal records are the primary currency of strength training progress. A new PR represents a measurable adaptation that did not exist before - a real physiological change expressed as a number. Tracking PRs accurately requires either meticulous manual record-keeping or a system that does it automatically. Ritual does it automatically.

Every set logged in Ritual is compared against the athlete's full history for that exercise. When a new PR is set - heaviest weight for any rep count, heaviest single, most reps at a given weight - it is flagged immediately in the session view. No manual tracking. No setup. No possibility of missing a record because you forgot to check.

A PR you didn't notice is a PR that doesn't motivate the next session. Ritual ensures every record is captured, flagged, and celebrated in the moment it happens.

PRs are stored per exercise and viewable in the exercise detail view - a historical record of every best performance for that movement across the athlete's full training history. This creates a permanent benchmark record that travels with the athlete regardless of how their programming changes over time.

Ritual Context

Ritual detects PRs automatically from logged history and flags them in real time during sessions. All PRs are stored per exercise and viewable in the exercise detail view with full historical context.

Post-Workout Summary -
The Most Detailed in Any App.

The post-workout summary is where a training session becomes data. Most apps produce a summary that lists what was logged - a receipt. Ritual produces an analysis that shows what it means - a report. Total volume lifted, volume per muscle group, top sets per exercise, session intensity indicators, PR count, comparison to previous sessions, and XP earned in a single screen that makes the session's meaning immediately legible.

The summary is designed to be shared. Ritual's share card system generates visually refined workout summary cards in any of the 15 app themes - transparent, solid, and sticker variants in portrait and square layouts. The share card presents the session's key metrics in a format suitable for posting directly to social media or sending to a coach without any additional editing.

A summary that only shows what you logged adds no value to what you already know. Ritual's post-workout summary shows what your session meant, not just what you did.

Public web share links generate a page viewable by anyone with the link - no app download required. A coach, training partner, or social media follower can view the full interactive session summary, including exercise detail and performance metrics, directly in their browser.

Ritual Context

Ritual's post-workout summary includes total volume, per-muscle-group volume, top sets, intensity data, PR count, XP earned, and session comparison. Share cards available in all 15 themes. Public web share links viewable without the app.
